Mission Statement

To support first responders and their families in times of need.

Vision

Whiskey is more than just grain and water to us. It is a physical representation of lost loved ones and a community of first responders who care for each other. We fundraise for first responders and their family members in need through our single-barrel whiskey program and commemorative whiskey bottles to help save lives or commemorate those who have passed.

THE PERFECT MIX

Service & Spirits

The First Responder Whiskey Society was formed in 2020 amid trying times. First responders from all over the world were facing unprecedented tragedies from illness, mental health issues, and lack of public support. An idea was formed to connect first responders of all disciplines through a shared love of whiskey. From police, fire, military, and medical staff, this group is a place where we can gather in camaraderie and support each other. In 2022, the group changed from a social club to 501(c)(3) non-profit charity.

HONORING THE FALLEN

WHISKEY TO REMEMBER

During FRWS’s first year, one of our founding members, Riverside County Sheriff’s K9 Sergeant Harry Cohen, tragically passed from an on-duty heart attack. Our group was devastated and left wondering, “what can we do?” Sergeant Cohen’s entire department was reeling from their loss while trying to take care of his wife and children. The group rallied behind the idea to purchase a barrel of whiskey, sell it, and raise money for his family. And thus, the group found its mission: to use whiskey to help first responders and their families in their time of need.

Remembering the fallen

K9 Sergeant Harry Cohen

Harry Cohen began his career as a deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 30, 1996. He served 24 years with the department where he worked a multitude of assignments. He was promoted to corporal in 2003 and eventually promoted to Sergeant in 2010. He spent many years of his career in the Sheriff’s K9 unit and was assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau’s (SWAT) K9 Unit at the time of his passing. “A husband, father, best friend and deputy: he will be deeply missed by all who knew him,” the department shared on social media after Cohen’s tragic death. “On behalf of the entire Department, we extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Sergeant Harry Cohen.”
