K9 Sergeant Harry Cohen

Harry Cohen began his career as a deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 30, 1996.
He served 24 years with the department where he worked many different assignments. He was promoted to corporal in 2003 and eventually promoted to Sergeant in 2010. He spent many years of his career in the Sheriff’s K9 unit and was assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau’s (SWAT) K9 Unit at the time of his passing. Harry suffered a fatal heart attack during training on Sunday, October 18, 2020. He was 48 years old at the time of his passing and survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
“A husband, father, best friend and deputy: he will be deeply missed by all who knew him,” the department shared on social media after Cohen’s tragic death. “On behalf of the entire Department, we extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Sergeant Harry Cohen.”
